This painted construction is based on a trip made to Midhurst in Sussex where I stumbled upon the wreckage of a car on forested land. The tree-dimensional forms are inventions that echo the central image. These engineered forms are contrasted with the painterly brushstrokes which evoke organic matter. I intended this work to be viewed as a metaphor for modern England.
