This is one of several of my paintings that are set an art gallery. Here, two people gaze up at a highly abstracted image of a shopping mall in which an escalator takes centre-stage. Thus the painting is a commentary on the allure of consumerism. Like many of my paintings, this work combines both figurative and highly abstracted imagery which I took from the National Gallery and Westfield shopping centre, both in London.
